Historically these tombs were erected in honour of the Paigah noble families of Hyderabad. This noble family had close relations with the Nizams of Hyderabad. The Paigah family played a dominant role in the governance of the city as the duties of vigilance and security of the society rested on their shoulders. Hence the Paigah tombs are a symbol of respect to this noble family.
