Finally this vacation, we all decided that it’s time to visit Kerala. Adjusting and juggling with every ones schedule, we finally decided to take a trip of 13 days.
Being based in Agra, which lies in the northern part of the India, travelling to Kerala, which is in South India, is big task. By going through the online travel portals, we selected the Kerala Express for its arrival and departure timings and it route. There were some Agra to Kottayam trains but their timings were not suitable for us.
We had decided that we will start our trip from Kottayam which is a popular tourist destination in Kerala and also comes highly recommended.
With all excitement and flourish we reached the station 20 mins before the departure. There were a lot of people waiting for the train on the platform, so as soon the train arrived there was a mad rush to enter. Luckily we had hired a coolie who being a expert professional got into our coach, found the seat, settled our bagged all in less than three minutes.
The first day aboard the train, time passed quickly in a blurry of activity, our neighbor were a groups of young kids who joined us in our efforts to past time, we played several card games the traditional Antakshri, Dumb Charades etc, and had a lot of fun.
The most dreaded part of the train journey is night time, where one has to try and sleep amidst the loud shouting noise, the flickering lights, the occasional snoring. Throughout the night I didn’t sleep a wink, eagerly awaited the morning and my destination.
One of the most fascinating things about this train Journey was the scenic views and the mesmerizing sights. As we were reaching closer to Kerala, the greenery increased. All through my travel experience never have I witnessed such beautiful sights.
