The Ramakrishna Mission along with its twin organization Ramakrishna Math was started by Swami Vivekananda in 1870s. Bearing the name of Shri Ramakrishna, the prophet of harmony of all religion, the organization has its branches all over the world. Based on the principle of Karm yoga, the mission indulges in humanitarian works. These works include conducts extensive work in health care, disaster relief, rural management, tribal welfare, elementary and higher education and culture.
According to sources, the Ramakrishna Ashram in Ranchi has been ranked 15th out of 28 sightseeing places in Ranchi. From this, it can be easily inferred that the ashram is growing popularly into a tourist destination. It was established in 1927 by the eight president of the Ramakrishna order.
While visiting the place one can see into the functioning of the mission. I, atleast, got insight as to how efforts of hundreds of ordered monks and thousands of householder disciples is combined and directed towards a good cause. I got to know how the administration of the mission works at the same time gaining awareness about the Monastic Order.

Visiting the place though is not a task as such. Situated well within the city, finding hotels and restaurants is easy enough. After you’ve got your strength back, you can easily get an auto to the ashram. The place can serve as an excellent choice for educational trip for young minds. It was a soul stirring experience and each of us felt a kind of spiritual halo which made us think about our lives and how we should take more time to connect with God . We realized it was a great feeling to become one with the divine power and the ambience really was soul-stirring.
We could also see many foreigners there and I realized that they realized our country’s worth and about its culture and tradition much more than we do. It gave an insight on the importance of spiritualism and it really opened my eyes to a lot of things.
