Trekking is an enjoyable activity. I often choose to trek when I have a holiday and don’t know what to do with it. Last month I visited Shimla. Here are five places near Shimla where the trekking experience was truly fabulous.
Dhanu Devta Temple
The Dhanu Devta temples have a unique architectural style. There are three temples in one spot. They are located on the Southern slopes of Shimla and are in a state of neglect. The place is definitely worth a visit and what you will enjoy most is the trek. I think this is one trek I enjoyed a lot during my visit to Shimla.
I started my trek from Mall Road downwards. I passed the HIgh Court and crossed Bemloe en route. I reached the cart road and from there headed towards Central Potato Research Institute and finally reached the cemetery at Shimla’s Bypass Road.

Kamna Devi Temple
I loved the visit to this temple. It is located on top of one of the seven hills of Shimla. The temple is located at a 20 minutes’ walk from Boileauganj. You will surely love the trek. I enjoyed it as there were many sights worth seeing in the route.
I loved the view of the Indian Institute of Advanced Studies. I also enjoyed the stroll through Boileauganj marketplace. I clicked many beautiful pictures during my small trek.

Chadwick Falls
Waterfalls have been a big weakness. I love watching waterfalls. The sound made by falling waters are soothing and rejuvenating. You must not miss a trek to the Chadwick Falls in your trip to Shimla.
I started off from IIAS and walked HP University Campus using the road that falls to the right. I used the unpaved road and walked amidst dense greenery. I was enjoyable. I followed the signboards to reach the Chadwick Falls.
All the treks were thoroughly enjoyable.
