Ramakkalmedu is located in the Idukki district. It is one of the many scenic sights in Munnar. The hill station is famous for its historical heritage. We had heard so much about this place, I was wondering whether it is over rated. It is also famous as the place which Leonardo DiCaprio, visited and called it paradise on earth.
Hearing all this really raised my expectation about the beauty of this place. After about 3 hour drive we finally reached it. It is a hill station which is located 3500 feet above the sea level and surrounded by lush greenery and amazing waterfalls and rivers.
The atmosphere, sights and soft willowy breeze blew away. From the time we stepped out of the car I felt as if I am in an all new world all together. The green lands and the Shola forest are a beautiful sight, and also made for an interesting backdrop for photographs.
The soft gentle breeze blowing constantly makes the weather pleasantly cool. Since it is not such famous tourist place it is free from commotion, traffic and pollution. The best way to enjoy it was suit on the grass lands overlooking the valley below. The sight was so captivating that we sat there for hours.
Soon it was sunset, though I didn’t want to leave it, we still did. The reason this place is not frequented by tourist is that the lack of development. Even though it is considered to be a hill station, there are barely any accommodation facilities. I would have definitely loved to spend another day there and enjoy the nature’s beauty at its best.
