Without wasting any time we started on our next destination to Pareshnath Jain Temple Kolkata, the next agenda in row in our list. It is one of the rarest Jain temples in Kolkata. Situated on the north eastern part of the city of Kolkata this temple was built in the year 1867 by Ray Badridas Bahadur. Committed to the 23rd Tirthankar of the Jains, this has become the main worship place for the people belonging to the Jainism religion. There are in all four temples built over here.
Lord Shitalnathji is established and worshipped in the inner sanctum of the temple. His forehead is adorned with diamonds and the lamp besides the idol is burning continuously since the time of the temple’s construction and inception. The second temple on the southern side belongs to Chandra Prabhujidev and the third temple on the right hand side is dedicated to Dadaji Garu, whereas the last temple that is on the northern side is dedicated to the last Jain Guru, Lord Mahavira.
The temple is open for the devotees on all the seven days of the week and the timings are from 6.00 to 11.00 in the mornings and in the afternoon and evenings, it is from 3.00 to 7.00. The temple is adorned with stones and pebbles colored and also mosaic work with mirrors in between. The floors are made up of marbles and the design, which is floral, gives a classical appearance to this architectural building. The walls are decorated with magnificent paintings of a painter who is quite world famous and named Ganesh Muskare. A gorgeous garden oversees the temple complex and the man-made waterfalls and fountains look to be awesome.
The lavish and captivating sight of the Pareshnath Jain Temple Kolkata left us astounded and enthralled. My friends and I were suitably impressed with the picturesque beauty surrounding the architectural building. This was the first time that we had visited a Jain temple and the experience was quite enchanting. We took many photographs of the place so that we could show it to our parents and friends. After completing our visit here we decided to visit Nakhoda Mosque Kolkata next.
