AII Sdah Express started off. Hi folks, I am back with the next account of my exciting trip to Kolkata. Though an architect by profession, I love travelling and seeing places first. I travel whenever I get an opportunity and this time it was to the authentic place like Kolkata. My friends, two of them, immediately joined me. As we wanted an adventurous and a budget trip, we decided to book our tickets with Indian Railways, which is the largest rail network in Asia. Thus, my train travel from Agra to Kolkata by
The train AII Sdah Express offers seats in First AC, Second AC, Third AC and Sleeper Class. Since we had a cut-out budget plan, we booked our tickets in the Third AC. The distance from Agra City to Kolkata (Howrah junction) is 1266 km. The total duration of the journey is 20 hours 10 minutes. The train started promptly at 19:45 hours and I was looking forward to an exciting journey.
Though a government-owned enterprise, Indian Railways try hard keeping the coaches clean and our train was not left behind. The pantry services were very frequent and according to need. There was a good and impressive menu for each meal. The food served felt so yummy to our taste buds. I noticed the staff members in the coach well-behaved and good in their services. There were different menus for different classes of travellers. We were provided blankets, pillows, and bed sheets for our comforts in the night.
There were many stoppages between start point and destination such as Allahabad Junction, Gaya Junction, Dhanbad Junction, Durgapur, etc. At every stop, we could see and meet different people, cultures and cuisines. I woke up early as I always is while travelling. At 15:55 hours we reached our destination. As expected the train was on time. After such a long train journey we were tried, so decided to hire a taxi and headed to our hotel, Hotel Park Inn Kolkata. The city looked quite busy and I enjoyed the vagaries of the place and weather, which are quite unique for us human beings. My train travel from Agra to Kolkata by AII Sdah Express was truly a wonderful one.
