While we were in Cochin we visited another interesting place called the Hill Place. Though the name makes it sound like a hotel but the Hill Palace is actually an archaeological museum. Earlier it was known to be the home for the Royal Family. The government later converted it into an archaeological museum and opened it to the public.
When we reached the museum at around 9 in the morning, there was a small queue at the gates. The queue moved quite quickly, and soon it was our turn. The entry is Rs. 20/- for adults and 10 for children.
Apart from the exhibit displays there are several other options for the entertainment of the tourists such as the giant dinosaur model and a nice picnic area. It also houses a deer park which showcases a large collection of deer’s including the Sambar and the Spotted Deer.
Overall the Museum is quite well maintained, and has an amazing display of artifacts which give a glimpse to the royal life. It is especially informative and entertaining for young kids .
